Simon Bolivar was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on July 24, 1783. He was born to a wealthy Spanish family. When he was, only three his father died, then when he was nine his mother died. He also had one brother and two other sisters. Then he moved in with his uncle who raised him. When he was 16, he went to Spain to finish school. He had received the best education available. In 1802, he married Maria Teresa Rodriguez Del Toro y Alaysa. After being married only one year, his wife died from yellow fever. He had lived a few years in Europe before moving back to his homeland. After moving back to his homeland, he had joined the resistance movement of South America. In 1813 he and his men decided to invade Venezuela, during that time is when he had received the nickname "el libertador" ot the liberator. He then decided to move back to Europe. During the time that he spent in Paris, he met Alexander von Humboldt, who had recently spent five years in South America, he also believed in the South American independence. He told Simon Bolivar, "I believe that your country is ready for its independence. But I can not see the man who is to achieve it." He then decided that he was going to be the person who liberated South America from Spain. Simon bolivar was a very hyperactive person. He later on vowed to never marry again. But he met a woman by the name of Manuela Saenz. Her mother became pregnant with her but never married the man because he was a high official. But he later had given money so that his daughter had received the best of the best. He then arranged a marriage between Manuela and an older, wealthy man. She then met Simon bolivar and knew that it was love from the start. She was also supportive of being liberated. In 1807, he returned once again to Venezuela after napoleon had made Joseph Bonaparte King of Spain. During his lifetime, he had led 472 battles and gained independence for six different nations. Simon bolivar died of tuberculosis.He died in Santa Martha Colombia; sadly, Simon BolĂvar was not able to accomplish his life long dream, which was for the gran Colombia to become one of the most powerful empires in the world.
